The Tuticorin Spinning Mills Ltd was originally established as a large cotton textile mill by Shri. Sinnamani Nadar in the year 1946. The mills were running 46,000 ring spindles of high-count cotton yarn for Indian and overseas markets. Since 2016, the spinning operations have been progressively curtailed, and the company has moved aggressively into residential and commercial real-estate development
The company has since exited the textile business, and is now firmly placed in the emerging renewable energy business. A new entity has been formed by the group, Muppandhal Green Energy Ltd, which leads the foray into the lucrative wind energy business
